Pipe Lining in Omaha, NE, and Nearby Areas
Traditional sewer repair and replacement has typically involved a complete excavation project to reach and fix the sewer system. This method can be highly disruptive to the surrounding terrain and can often involves large machinery. There’s a relatively new method, called trenchless pipe lining, which essentially does away with all that by relining the existing system where it is. As trenchless repair is a more recent innovation, questions might remain about how it works. The pipe repair and replacement specialists at American Rooter Plumbing offers this minimally invasive repair method for our clients in the Omaha and the surrounding areas. We take immense pride in saying that we are the first team in our area to offer this service.
Understanding the Pipe Lining Process
This form of trenchless sewer repair uses just a small team and minimal equipment to restore pipes from just one or two access points, such as a sewer cleanout. While there are a number of trenchless techniques, pipe lining is one of the most used and popular. The liner cures in place or hardens with applied UV lighting, creating a tough, new PVC-like second pipe inside the old pipe that effectively repairs all previous breaks or cracks and guards against corrosion or tree roots for 50 years.
The American Rooter Plumbing team is proud to use Perma-Liner equipment for pipe lining. Unlike traditional repair methods that call for extensive digging, the technology that we rely on allows us to make the necessary repairs in a fraction of the time. Cured-in-place pipe (or CIPP) repairs involve a liner being saturated with epoxy resin and inserted from one small access point. You are left with a highly durable pipe that is now stronger than the previous one.
The Curing Time We Utilize
Curing time varies based on the method the plumber uses and can take a couple of hours to much of a day. We use UV curing, which is a newer, more innovative approach. Once the liner has been inverted, a computer runs a UV light train along the pipe at a specified speed while monitoring pressure, temperature and rate of cure for a successful installation.
Our team also uses a specialized Robotic Cutter to reinstate connecting branch lines. Having this special piece of equipment will allow us to reinstate these branch lines at a faster rate, decreasing your plumbing down time.
Benefit from a Less Disruptive Procedure
The most common reason a property owner would want to choose this trenchless option is to prevent and minimize destruction of property. At times the costs of trenchless restoration are typically comparable and possibly less expensive than your traditional trench sewer replacement. With trenchless sewer repair, the team of professionals at American Rooter Plumbing can have the job set up and complete within one to two days with hardly any impact to surrounding buildings, landscape or traffic. Best of all, you will have a brand-new pipe that will guard against tree roots or breaks for the next 50 years.
Pipe Lining vs. Pipe Replacement
Comparing pipe lining to traditional methods of sewer repair, goes beyond the benefits of pipe lining’s less disruptive process. While we are capable of performing pipe lining in many instances, some situations prevent the service from being an option. Compromised pipes, meaning they are either crushed or bellied completely to the point where we are not able to get a scope, snake, hydro-jetter, or rejuvenation machine through would NOT be capable of lining. If we can’t even get these tools through the line, there is no way that our pipe lining machine will be able to fit through compromised sections of pipe to line its walls.
This is not to say that we cannot line a section of the pipe. Some drain systems may be line-able to a point or through a section, but this is diagnosable case-by-case. Furthermore, inside and outside drain systems with mineral build up, small cracks, small offsets, tree roots, and other minor damages can be lined. If we are able to get our camera and cleaning equipment through to open up the circumference of the pipe, we can line.
UV Pipe Lining is not available everywhere in the Omaha-Metro area, due to restrictions from the municipal plumbing code. Other methods, such as trenching or pipe bursting are options for restoring functioning sewer drainage to your home.
